A foam generator is a machine that generates firefighting foam bubbles by mixing a firefighting foam concentrate with water (premix solution) and mechanically agitating it to produce air-filled foam bubbles. It is a fire extinguishing device that can be used for both stationary and mobile fire protection systems.

foam generators are designed to expand foam into a large volume of stable bubbles with expansion rates in excess of 830:1 without any external power source, moving parts or other external equipment. This allows for easier installation and reduced maintenance requirements.

High expansion generators are available for use in stationary and mobile fire protection systems on ordinary combustible and hydrocarbon ignitable liquid hazards. These systems are UL listed and FM approved.

The main function of a foam generator is to obtain foam from the ready-to-use foam solution (premix). They are responsible for obtaining the required amount of firefighting foam from the premix, so it is important that they are resistant to high temperatures and explosion.

There are many different types of fire extinguishing foam generators on the market, but the most common and widely used are GPS, GPSS and GChS models developed in the 60s. They are still very popular with specialists who work with stationary fire extinguishing installations.

They are not as efficient as the modern low-expansion film-forming foam and high-expansion foam technology, but they are still morally sound and can be used in stationary fire extinguishing systems.

The generators are manufactured by Pozhneftehim and are based on the dry foaming technology, which creates a good quality and uniform foam that is very stable. The generators are ideal for both civil engineering projects and commercial contracts where the use of foam is a requirement.
