LONDON, Dec. 5, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Major concrete companies and cement plants such as Heidelberg, Cemex, and Holcim are leading in establishing cooperation with major architects, engineers, and construction companies. Incorporating advice from industry, the Actionable Mission Partnership has developed a new strategy that sets out the milestones and commitments required by government, industry and investors to achieve net zero emissions from the concrete and cement industry over the next 25 years.

Concrete is the most widely used material in the world after water, and concrete and cement are vital components of global economic development, construction, transportation and other infrastructure. This industry is more responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions than aviation and transport combined. Cement and concrete production continues to increase to meet global demand, making emissions challenges even more severe. Without efficiency improvements, demand for cement is expected to increase by 50% by 2050.

The goal of "Achieving net-zero emissions from concrete and cement" reflects how, in a net-zero industry scenario, the industry can achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and comply with the 1.5°C warming target by taking urgent action on three pillars:

A 22% reduction in emissions can be achieved from the demand side by improving efficiency during construction and reducing the amount of concrete required for the design without sacrificing safety or durability.

A 25% reduction in process emissions can be achieved from the supply side by reducing the slag used through supplemental cementitious materials (SCM) while bringing alternative chemical materials to the commercial market.

53% of emissions can be reduced, eliminated, or captured through integrated fuel switching, power sector decarbonization, and carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS).

Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technology currently has the greatest emission reduction potential of all existing technologies, and 33-45 new 80 million tons must be built by 2030 if the industry is to stay within the carbon budget. CO2 CCUS plant. However, according to the new data on environmental protection industrial project tracking announced by the MPP in COP28, it is difficult for projects to reach final investment decisions (FID) due to the lack of existing projects. Fifteen factories have already reached critical mass.

Faustine Delasalle said: "The report clarifies that achieving net-zero emissions from the concrete and cement industry is possible, but time is running out. Now is the time for the entire value chain and governments to leap of faith and work together."

A cement foaming machine and cement foaming agent produce foam concrete. Let's look at what cement foaming machines and cement foaming agents are.

The relationship between cement foaming machine and cement foaming agent

The cement foaming machine and the cement foaming agent are interdependent. The cement foaming agent itself cannot automatically become a foam. It need to pass through the mechanical action of the foaming machine to become a foam. The cement foaming machines and cement foaming agents are a technical system that cooperates. They cannot function alone, and neither can do without the other. Between the two, it cannot be said who is important or not. Their roles are equivalent. Without a foaming agent, the foaming machine cannot produce foam and loses its value of existence. Similarly, no matter how good the foaming agent is without a foaming machine, it cannot become foam, and its purpose will be lost.
