(Foaming Agent Used in Concrete)

foaming agent used in concrete is a liquid additive that is added to the concrete mix during the mixing process to produce foam. It can be a variety of different chemicals.

Typically, it is made from a mixture of water and sand. It can also be made from other ingredients like cornstarch or flour.

The use of a foaming agent can help to reduce the amount of slurry in a given mix, thereby increasing the fluidity of the resulting concrete. It can also be used to entrain air into the mix.

DAREX(r) AE4 is a ready to use foaming agent for use in all types of mortar and concrete mixes. It is particularly formulated for producing foamed concrete and can be used with synthetic and naturally occurring light weight aggregates.

It contains a blend of anionic surfactants that will entrain air into all types of concrete even those with very angular crushed aggregates.

This admixture can be added to all types of Portland cement including Sulphate Resisting Cements and can also be used with cement replacement materials such as fly ash.

Typical additions of DAREX(r) AE4 to concrete mixes are 200ml per 50kg of cement. It should be incorporated during the normal mixing process, however, it should not be allowed to exceed this point as excessive dosing can result in an increase in the air content and workability of the concrete mix, together with a loss of ultimate compressive strength.
