From privacy screens to walkways, concrete blocks have many applications around your home. However, they are sometimes difficult to work with because of their weight.

A lighter alternative to traditional concrete block is available, called light concrete blocks. These are less than one-fifth the weight of traditional concrete block and wall panel, making them easy to handle and install.

Unlike normal concrete blocks, light concrete block is made of expanded aggregates that reduce the density and weight compared to standard concrete blocks. The lightweight aggregates are usually a combination of shale, clay or slate that have been heated in a rotary kiln until they expand.

The resulting mixture is then mixed with Portland cement and sand. It is then molded into blocks that can be used to build walls or other structures.

The blocks have lower drying shrinkage and higher strength, a feature that is important for many building projects. They can also be used as infill around openings, doors and windows, as well as to adjust coursing heights on walls. They are a versatile product that is available in four sizes and six styles. They can be painted to match any architectural design or color scheme. They also come with a Rainbloc(r) mortar liquid admixture that helps ensure your masonry wall system is completely water repellent.
