(Telluride Powder – The Dream of Every Skier and Snowboarder)

telluride powder is the dream of every skier and snowboarder. Imagine 16 inches of light white gold settling into the mountain and a sky full of fluffy cumulus.

It’s no surprise that Telluride has one of the highest average snowfalls in the country. Its high altitude and north-facing slopes keep the snow fresh, enabling it to attract more skiers than any other ski resort in the world.

But that’s not to say that Telluride is without its challenges. As is often the case with high-altitude resorts, lift traffic can be a problem.

Luckily, skiers looking to avoid long lift lines can take advantage of Telluride’s mid-January and late-March skiing periods. These times bring some of the resort’s best conditions and the cheapest prices of the season.

For those looking for a bit of a challenge, Telluride also has some steep and deep runs. The Revelation bowl, located above the tree-line, and Gold Hill chutes are among those most prized by advanced and expert shredders.

Another fun choice is Senior’s Run, a gnarly couloir off Palmyra Peak that requires a lot of hiking and a strong ski base. It drops off a steep slope at 13,320 feet and features a blood-curdling 52 degree gradient.

If you’re looking to get your adrenaline pumping, Telluride is home to some of the most challenging backcountry terrain in the country. It’s no wonder that it’s ranked number one in the nation for backcountry skiing by SKI Magazine.
